IUI (Intra uterine Insemination)

IUI (Intra uterine Insemination) IUI is the injection of prepared sperm into the uterus on the day of ovulation. The process starts with a female egg cell stimulating hormone drug monitoring the quality and size of the egg cell. When quality of egg cell is obtained, the doctor will give medication to stimulate ovulation and arrange the appointment for the patient to inject the prepared sperm from the laboratory into the uterus on that day. After injection of sperm approximately 10-14days, the doctor will make an appointment to have blood drawn to check for pregnancy.

IUI is recommended in couples who cannot find the cause of their infertilityor in a married woman who fallopian tubes are healthy and no problem with ovulation but male has problems with ejaculation of sperm in the vagina.

The successful rate of IUI is approximately 5-15% depending on the quality of the eggs. Therefore, IUI is not recommended for couple female have a problem with fallopian tube. There is a blockage of the fallopian tubes or men with low sperm and / or poor quality because have relatively low successful.

Practice after IUI

  1. Rest 20-30 minutes after the injection.
  2. Abstain sex on the day of IUI.
  3. Get enough exercise and rest.
